President declared the end of HIV / AIDS in sight in Nigeria – African Daily Voice

NEWSROOM (ADV) – President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday unveiled the Nigeria HIV / AIDS Indicator and Impact Survey (NAIIS) report, stating that the end of the disease was in sight in the country.

When he unveiled the NAIIS in the presidential villa Abuja, he said the availability of accurate and reliable HIV data for the country was crucial for planning effective health interventions to stop the HIV epidemic and ultimately rob the country of this health threat .

"The Nigeria AIDS Indicator and Impact Survey are designed to provide the data we need to plan adequately and to consolidate progress towards the elimination of HIV in Nigeria.

"The official HIV prevalence for people aged 15-49 in Nigeria is now 1.4 percent. An estimated 1.9 million Nigerians now live with HIV with about one million people in treatment.
