Nigeria and car manufacturer Volkswagen have signed a deal to let the company produce its vehicles in the West African nation.
This was part of the deal that was reached when German Chancellor Angela Merkel visited Nigeria last week.
Minister of Trade and Investment Okey Okechukwu Enelamah signed for Nigeria with CEO and Chairman of the Volkswagen activities of Volkswagen Thomas Schaefer signed for the automotive company.
The company is working with the National Automotive Design and Development Council to join the company in Nigeria and set up local production.
In July, the National Automotive Design and Development Council and the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment Volkswagen and other global OEMs had hosted in Abuja.
Volkswagen started this year with the production of vehicles in Rwanda.
