LONDON – Lil Wayne admitted that he was trying to commit suicide by shooting himself when he was twelve.
The 35-year-old rapper shot himself in the chest after he found a gun in his mother's house, and although he described earlier what happened as an accident, he admitted a new song that he deliberately tried to take his own life.
Wayne added the text to the song in the summer after the suicides of designer Kate Spade and chef Anthony Bourdain.
His friend and business partner Mack Maine told Billboard magazine: "He told me one day that he was ready to tackle it now.
"Just being mature, reaching a level of maturity and comfort where it is," I want to talk about this because I know many people may be going through it. "
Wayne had a number of attacks between 2013 and 2017, and as a result he cut his epic 26-hour recording sessions to "12 or 14 hours".
He said: "That is the most important thing that friends and family and the doc and all those people recommend.
The Go D.J. hitmaker has had a much-publicized dispute with his former record company Cash Money Records – which was handled in June – and credits his four children from past relationships, Reginae, 19, Dwayne III, nine, Cameron, also nine, and Neal, eight , to get him through the turbulent time.
He said, "My four jewels – when I'm FaceTime one of them, man, everything goes away.
"I did not let it touch me too much, just the confidence that I know there is always a tomorrow and I'll make sure tomorrow's going well. Some people can not continue [like] that, like, & # 39; OK, tomorrow will be better. & # 39; They need it better at the moment. And thank God I did not do that and I never did. & # 39;
