80 huts destroyed after the fire of Joburg

Johannesburg Emergency Management Services (EMS) says that around 200 residents of slums have become homeless after a fire in the Clay Oven Informal Settlement that killed one person.

Three people suffered smoke inhalation in Saturday morning's fire near Witkoppen Road in Midrand.

It is claimed that the fire was deliberately started during a domestic dispute.

Disaster management officials provide relief for displaced persons.

EMS & # 39; Robert Mulaudzi said: "Eighty huts were destroyed by the fire incident leaving about 200 displaced people, one male patient was confirmed dead on the spot and the other three patients were being treated for smoke inhalation."
