He said that Buthelezi had remained calm and tolerant of a hostile treatment of Tutu.

"When Archbishop Tutu asked you to meet President Mandela for peace, you agreed without hesitation," Makgoba said.
Makgoba also apologized to Buthelezi for the "shameful and negative role" that early missionaries played in trying to harm the "harmless cultural practices" of the Zulu nation. The country should celebrate the "great life" of Buthelezi, while the church should thank him for being a "loyal Anglican," Makgoba said.
The event, at the Durban Exhibition Center, was the culmination of two similar events – one held in Ulundi on August 27 and open to the public, and another in Durban's Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Center on August 31st. .

"God has kept you alive until this age because he wanted us to still draw wisdom and knowledge from you.
"You are a person who has been blessed with life in years, like an old wine, you have grown up and become a fountain of wisdom that everyone drinks in. You have been like a baobab tree for the royal family, for the nation and for me. as your king, "said the king.
Buthelezi's son, Prince Ntuthukoyezwe Zuzika Buthelezi, said that important guests at the ICC event would be the British Prince Charles.
