JOHANNESBURG – The Democratic Alliance (DA) claims that 200 other families have reportedly claiming financial compensation after their family members were struck by the life Esidimeni tragedy.

The party says that the government of Gauteng unveiled the figure last week during a meeting of the monitoring committee.

It is clear that most claims have been verified and are eligible for compensation.

R159 million has so far been paid to claimants, but the new claims mean that an additional R236 million is needed.

Jack Bloom of the DA said: "It is a very high price but it is necessary to pay it with the strategy behind us." The provincial government said they will take it from all provincial government departments, but unfortunately there will be problems with the delivery. of services, because the money has to come from somewhere.
