JOHANNESBURG – The Democratic Alliance (DA) and its student organization DASO have picked out of the Soshanguve police station today, just a few days after a student of the Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) was shot and killed, allegedly by the police, on Thursday.

The student sustained a gunshot wound at the head.

Frustrated students yesterday led violent protests on the Soshanguve campuses and left some property damaged.

Students also marched at the station and demanded that the police officer who reportedly used live ammunition on students was arrested.

The police have assured that his watchdog, the independent police investigation department (Ipid), has investigated the case.
