Hawks repair firearm used in the murder of the policeman in East London

The Hawks have recovered the firearm that was reportedly used in the murder of an East London investigative officer.

Eastern Cape Hawks spokesman, Captain Anelisa Feni, said the firearm was restored Tuesday in the Ncera village in East London.

The same day, two men were arrested at East London Airport.

Sinethemba Sikoti and Andile Marwanqa, both 30, appeared briefly in the Magistrates Court in East London on Thursday.

They have been accused of murder and the unlawful possession of a firearm without fire and ammunition.

The case was postponed until 2 October for further investigation and for the men to appoint legal representatives.

Sergeant Simphiwe Sahluko, 42, stationed in Beacon Bay, was shot dead in his home in Nompumelelo on Sunday, where his mother also ran a tavern.
