PRETORIA – Three men were arrested in northern Pretoria after they were found in possession of "a significant number of suspected counterfeit banknotes" that resembled US Dollars and South African Rands, police said Wednesday.
The three, at the age of 19, 38 and 39, were arrested in Gezina, police said.
"The suspects were found in one of the units on a block of flats, and the suspect counterfeit banknotes were found in a locked garage that is said to have been reserved for that unit," said police spokesman Daniel Mavimbela.
Their arrest followed a raid by the local police after receiving a tip from a member of the public.
The suspects are charged with the possession of suspected counterfeit cash and are expected to appear in the court of justice in Pretoria shortly.
