Johannesburg – Naledi Pandor, Minister of Higher Education and Training, has Dr. Randall Carollissen appointed as administrator of the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS).
The appointment of Carollissen takes effect during one year and sees him take over the management, management and administration of the entity.
The appointment takes effect on the date of the publication of an announcement in the Government Gazette, which will be made at the beginning of next week.
Carollissen is currently the group director: turnover planning, analysis and reporting at the South African Revenue Services (SARS).
He is also the chairman of the board at the University of the Witwatersrand.
The department of higher education in a statement said that the appointment of Carollissen followed the meeting of Pandor with the board of the NSFAS, after the resignation of his chairman.
"This followed a few months of involvement with the board and the entity in the light of serious delays in the financing of students at TVET colleges and universities in 2017 and 2018.
" After the meeting, the minister announced that she would appoint an administrator to take over the management, management and management of NSFAS within the meaning of articles 17A to 17D of the NSFAS Act (Act 56 of 1999, as amended). The board agreed with the minister about the need for the appointment of an administrator.
The department also confirmed that the current board was dissolved from the publication date of the official journal.
Pandor thanked the current board members of NSFAS and the new chair Professor Garrod for their commitment to support the entity during the transition period.
