The Portfolio Committee on Higher Education and Training has invited interested organizations and citizens to submit written comments on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) amendment proposal. [B20-2018], no later than 28 August 2018.
The bill aims to amend the 2008 NQF law in order to: amend and insert certain definitions; ensure the verification of all qualifications or partial qualifications by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA); provide for the formulation of criteria for the assessment of foreign qualifications; and provide for setting up and maintaining separate registers of inaccurate representations of fraudulent qualifications.
In addition, it will provide a separate register for professional names; ensure the referral of qualifications or partial qualifications to SAQA for verification and evaluation; provide for offenses and penalties that affect fraudulent qualifications; and take care of matters that are related to this.
