The East London police need help after the thief drives off with the man and his son's car

The police in East London have appealed to the public on Wednesday for help with information that can help them with their investigation after a police officer has been stolen with his son in the vehicle.

"Around 4:00 PM, a Blue Mazda 3 with registration FFM218EC was parked in front of a tire mounting center in Cambridge Street," said police spokesman, Warrant officer Hazel Mqala.

"The owner was busy at the store when an unknown man stepped into the vehicle and drove away.

"The 34-year-old son of the owner, who has Down's syndrome, was in the vehicle."

She said that an investigation by the SAPS has been intensified.

"Any person with information about the vehicle or the missing person to contact the number of the crime stop on 0860010111."
