CAPE TOWN – The Metro Police Training Academy of Cape Town celebrates ten years since it was founded.
Since its launch, the academy has completed 50 youth camps that have benefited more than 2,000 students.
Eighteen of these students are trained as traffic and Metro policemen, in addition to peace officials and traffic controllers, among other roles.
Member of the Mayoral Safety and Security Committee JP Smith says that the Training Academy contributes to staff being employed for the job.
"It also had to meet a growing need for training, because the numbers of the various departments increase due to fixed appointments, volunteers and contract staff."
