Transactions with credit and debit cards completed in November they increased on average by 14% compared to the same month of 2017, assured the latest report prepared by ATACyC, the chamber that groups the main issuers of the sector.
The increase in billing volume in pesos was more than 40% year-on-year, powered by mobile telephony, services and airline tickets.
On the debit cards side, the item with the most movement in November was the payment of services, with an increase of 47.9% in the number of transactions and 95.5% in volume in pesos; followed by the purchase of airline tickets, with an increase of 43.8% and 48.1%.
On credit cards the item mobile telephony led the growth, with an increase of 34.6% in transactions and 56.2% of the amount in relation to the comparison with the same month of the previous year.
In the second place was the item payment of services, with an increase of 24.2% in business activities and 81.7% in sales.
Meanwhile, the items that showed a decline in credit card transactions in November household items, with a 23% decrease in the total number of transactions; followed by furniture and mattresses (-18.3%) and clothing and footwear (-11.1%).
On the other hand, on the debit cards were also the items that reduced their number of transactions clothing and footwear (-8.9%), furniture and mattresses (-8.6%) and household goods (-8.0%).
