What will medical studies look like in Bariloche?

The students will work with real patients from the outset, in an articulated way with the public health system, ”assured Diego Aguiar, Vice Rector of Andean Department at the National University of Río Negro, on the implementation. future of medicine career in Bariloche.

“That’s why the support of the province is very important to us,” he said.

In this sense, he stressed: “We met with the Governor and the Provincial Health Minister and talked to them about the project. They are very happy that we can open the race here in 2022 ”.

Aguiar indicated that precisely “the idea is to start the race in February or March” of that year.

“In principle, we don’t have a school hospital, such as the University of Córdoba, but we work with real cases. We may even expand some of the hospital construction to include classrooms, ”he said.

Regarding the pace of work being monitored towards the execution of the race, he explains: “About a month ago we set up a committee to conduct a feasibility study, which should be ready for the race. ‘for December.

“The deans and former deans of medicine from Nacional del Sur, Arturo Jauretche and Cuyo universities are intervening because they have a career model similar to the one we want to pursue here,” he said.

“The rector, other university officials and I have met this group every week. Progress has been made in the program and now we are working on the selection of teachers, ”he continued.

“The idea is that the document they are writing, that the profile of the graduate, the different subjects that would be there, the educational subjects, what the admission and duration would be, and other miscellaneous academic subjects, will be presented to the Headquarters Council and Better Advice. In addition, we will request funding from the University Policy Secretariat, ”he explains.

According to the Vice Rector, “the study will also serve to reach the National Commission for the Evaluation and Accreditation of Universities (CONEAU) in April, which is the body to approve so-called regulated careers.”

In this sense, Aguiar stressed that the evaluation of said body will certainly take a few months, so next year will be devoted to “teacher training, because the career has some peculiarities, with a pedagogical approach called problem-based learning.” . (ABP), where we work with small groups of students ”.

“Another feature is that there will be an interdisciplinary approach, it will not be the traditional subject system, but will have the participation of doctors, as well as representatives of other fields, for example the social sciences, who will work together for a broad humanistic education”, he said. .

According to the university authority, the implementation of the quarry will have “consequences not only in Bariloche, but in the whole region”.

“We plan to travel from Esquel to San Martín de los Andes,” he said, bearing in mind that currently “Cipolletti, Bahía Blanca and Comodoro Rivadavia” are the closest cities to study.

But beyond the contribution it will represent to the area, he stressed that this will mean a change for the headquarters, “because medicine is not an ordinary career, because it is directly related to the environment: health problems are related to other existing drawbacks. related to inequalities, income, employment, services, etc. ”.
