Members of the Argentinian maritime prefecture rescue an orca that was stranded on a beach in Mar del Plata (Buenos Aires province) and an orca that was stranded in the port of that city, informed official sources.

The mayor-prefect of the place, Raul Rodriguez, told Efe that the first copy, stranded on Punta Mogotes beach, had been observed by some surfers, who warned the authorities.

To check the health status of the orca, members of a foundation specializing in animal care, Aquarium, took blood samples.

After several hours of joint work between the prefecture, the foundation and some neighbors, they managed to bring it back to the sea.

On the same morning they found a killer whale in the harbor of Mar del Plata, a few kilometers from the place.

With the help of two boats, the authorities took her from the area without taking blood samples, Rodríguez continued.

These two rescues took place only one day after the prefect had saved another orca that had been stranded in the municipality of La Costa, 170 kilometers north of Mar del Plata.
