The government wants to eliminate the retirement of older adults with "few" contributions

On Monday, Minister of Economy Nicolás Dujovne presented the 2019 budget project for the National Congress. The text reveals a fact that would complicate the lives of millions of pensioners.

Is that the national government is planning to destroy the Universal Pension for the Elderly (PUAM) that is charged by those who have turned 65 but do not have 30 contributions to retire.

The official government stipulates that retirement "will become incompatible with the execution of an activity related to dependence or independence".

PUAM – effective since mid-2016 – is a monthly benefit equal to 80% of the minimum wage and is currently 6,909 pesos.

To access your collection, you must be at least 65 years old (equal age for men and women), and be a natural Argentinean, optional or national (in the latter case, with a legal minimum residence permit of ten years) or be a foreigner with a minimum legal residence permit of 20 years.

On the other hand, the draft budget 2019 also envisages a reduction of the new non-contributory and non-contributory pensions and pensions of the national pension system for those living in the Patagonia region..
