Sydneysiders could be confronted with & # 39; car-mageddon & # 39; in the middle of stopping the train

Commuters in the north of Sydney are asked to avoid "car-maggeddon" when they adjust to the seven-month closure of an out-of-town line.

Buses have started yesterday with the replacement of trains between Chatswood and Epping, as the underground rail line has been prepared for the new single-deck Metro North West fast connection scheduled to start between March and June 2019.

Transport minister Andrew Constance said that the temporary closure of the Chatswood to Epping line was a "significant disruption," but it would be worth it.

"In the end, everyone in the short term is going to suffer pain in the long run," Constance told reporters.

The minister begged commuters to plan their journeys and use the bus replacement service instead of collecting their car keys.

"We do not want to have a car mega truck on Tuesday, so that's why we try to make everyone think beforehand about how to get to and from the neighborhoods", said Constance.

The road manager has added CCTV cameras, hired more towing vehicles, introduced some bus lanes and adjusted some parking restrictions to process the extra traffic.
