Biomutant Postponed until summer 2019

THQ Nordic has announced a delay in front of Biomutant.

The planned release of 2018 will be given somewhere in the summer. The open ARPG is planned for a Windows PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One release.

THQ has given no reason behind the delay, but it is likely that this is simply further polishing the game.

Here is an overview of the game, via THQ Nordic:

Biomutant is a post-apocalyptic open-world ARPG that offers real-time combat of battle, gunner and mutant capability. Replayability through varied and deep character progression, exploration of three systematically generated worlds, an underworld and a small solar system, on foot, mech, hot air balloon, jet ski and UFO. Biomutant also features a fully customizable (MMO style) character and mutation system, bionics and creative items creation, plus an interactive story with a contextual narrator in which the players create their own story about survival in a vibrant colorful world.

Most important features:

The combat system in martial arts style offers you maximum freedom of movement and dexterity as you shoot, mixing melee and powers of your mutations. Learning new Wushu combat forms through progression and learning from masters you will meet will continually contribute to your choices and ensure that the battle never gets old.
You can re-encode your genetic structure to change the way you look and play. This will naturally affect your properties and exposure to bio-contamination in the world will also lead to physical mutations such as praying mantis and barbed tails, while exposure to radioactivity in old-world bunkers will affect your mind and unlock psi mutations such as telekinesis, levitation and more.
You are completely free when you make weapons. Mix and match parts to make your own unique 1H or 2H slash, crush and pierce melee weapons. Revolvers, rifles and guns and add adjustments such as cork screws and battery-powered chain saw modules to bio-contaminated sludge bottles that contribute to your battle arsenal. There are even characters that you will meet and that will make cool things for you, such as bionic wings, a jumping package and even allowing you to modify your Automaton – the scrap-toy sidekick!
You are completely free when you equip your character. Not only when it comes to choosing weapons that you have made, but also what kind of clothing you wear. Provide a gas mask and an oxygen tank to explore the Death Zones, thermos-resistant clothing in cryogenic areas or protective equipment for taking biocontaminated creatures, the choice is yours.
You are free to explore the world and what is below its surface, on foot, with a mech, jet ski, hot air balloon or unique area. Explore the dying wildland, the tunnels and bunker networks of the underworld and find your way up through the mountains or the archipelago. There are many discoveries to be made, mysteries to unravel, confront creatures and weird characters to meet in this vibrant and colorful world.
Your actions play a major role in unfolding a story in which End comes to the New World. A plague ruins the land and the Tree-of-Life kills the death of its roots. The tribes are divided, need someone who is strong enough to unite or bring them all down …
You are led through the world by a narrator who tells you every step of your journey, but it is your actions and choices that determine how your story of survival ends.

In related news, THQ Nordic confirmed that it was the Biomutant intellectual property and its developer, Experiment 101.

Biomutant starts on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
