In the United Kingdom, younger users are migrating to Snapchat

Facebook generally still adds monthly users, but older age groups are mainly responsible for this. In total there will be 32.7 million Facebook users in the UK this year, an increase of 2.0% compared to 2017.

Our forecast also shows that the growth of mobile Facebook users is beginning to level off, suggesting that many younger users of social networks completely abandon Facebook in favor of more attractive mobile-first alternatives.

"These so-called Facebook nevers eat significantly in Facebook's user growth," said senior analyst Bill Fisher of eMarketer. "Although the Instagram purchase of the media giant seems to be a smart move in the sense that it picks up that young user group, it is struggling to keep the ties of Snapchat in these cohorts."
