A few years ago, it inevitably meant that an Android device stocks inevitably invested in one of Google's Nexus assortment, or perhaps satisfied with a Moto. Nowadays there is a choice, with a number of brands that offer the shares Android experience and also at a relatively affordable price. So if you're looking for a bit of Android minus the toppings, then here are five phones that give you exactly that, even if you cost less than Rs 20,000:
1. Xiaomi Mi A2 – for camera magic! – R 16,999
The latest addition to the stock Android bandwagon is Xiaomi's Mi A2. The company recently launched the device in India and, like its predecessor (the Mi A1), is part of the Android One initiative, ie Stock Android minus the MIUI skin. It features a 5.99-inch full HD + screen with an aspect ratio of 18: 9, operates on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 and has 4 GB RAM and 64 GB storage (not expandable), along with a 3000 mAh battery that generally release a day of use. But the USP is the camera setting – a 12 megapixel and 20-megapixel at the back (both with a large aperture of 1.75) and a 20-megapixel selfie camera that comes with AI support. The cameras are able to deliver very good details and colors in decent lighting conditions, and portrait mode works great on both front and rear cameras. Yes, we're missing expandable memory and some may complain about the missing 3.5mm audio jack, and others may think that Xiaomi played safely with the design (get a page from the Note 5 Pro book and successfully avoid a notch ), but that said, the Mi A2 is a smooth performer in most circumstances, making it one of the safest gambling games when it comes to an Android inventory on a mid-market segment. And of course it means being part of Android One that it gets Android updates for a period of two years.
2. Nokia 6.1 Plus – for that notchy appearance and updated feeling – Rs 15.999
Nokia has been the standard bearer of Android One, with its brand pure, clutter-free Android and very up-to-date updates. And with its latest phone, the 6.1 Plus, the former smartphone top dog adds a lot of visual beauty to the Android content. Oh, and it also adds a notch to the mix – the first Nokia device in India that has one. It is a surprisingly compact device and comes with a very good 5.8-inch full HD + large screen, and although the glass exterior is a very nice one, the inside of it is also impressive. The phone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor, coupled with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage, and on the back is the 16 and 5 megapixel camera duo, while on the front is a 16-megapixel snapper, all of which are decent performers. There is also a 3060 mAh battery that allows you to easily continue for a day. But for us the biggest attractions are of course the fast updates and that very striking design. Perhaps the best mix of style and content in this list!
3. Moto G6 – for showing off value – Rs 13.999
In a pond full of metal and plastic fish, the Moto G6 swims on glass fins. Although the Moto G6 is generally a very good device, one of the things that stands out on the phone is the ability to make heads in what is otherwise a crowd that is as simple as the operating system that is running. It has a 5.7-inch Full HD + 18: 9 aspect ratio at the front, but what makes it shine (literally) is its glassy back, which makes it look very luxurious. And it is not a standard glass back – it makes light rays bend when they fall on them, creating a wavy pattern. This, combined with an iconic camera unit that Moto is famous for with a touch of Swiss watch like notches around the perimeter, makes the device a more beautiful device. It does not compromise on specifications – it works on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 chip with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage (expandable to 128 GB with a special microSD card slot), and a 3000 mAh battery with Turbo Charging . The phone comes with a 12 megapixel and a 5-megapixel sensor on the back and an 8-megapixel front camera, which tends to be a little over-saturated, but generally delivers a decent performance.
4. Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 – for the specification sheet – Rs 14.999
If numbers make you tick and your bank balance is on the slimmer side, then this is the default Android choice for you. The Zenfone Max Pro M1 has a 5.99 inch full HD + 18: 9 aspect ratio display and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor and the latest version comes with 6 GB RAM and 64 GB storage (expandable to 2 TB with using the special micro SD card slot) and a huge 5000 mAh battery to support the large numbers. In the camera function, the device has a dual camera setup with 16 megapixel and 5-megapixel sensors on the back and a 16-megapixel sensor on the front for selfies. Although performance is a smooth ride on the Max Pro M1, even if pushed through high-end gaming, the cameras can be a little moody. But everything said and done; this is perhaps the most powerful device in this price segment. Yes, we know that hearing the words "Zenfone" and "stock Android" could be a surprise – the ZenUI of Asus was one of the most messy user interfaces in the industry, but the Zenfone Max Pro M1 has redeemed the company for his "Skin-ny" setbacks, and Asus did a great job delivering timely updates.
5. Moto E5 Plus – for the marathon battery – Rs 11.999
Do you want your stock-Android experience to go through and through, undisturbed by charging problems? The Moto E5 Plus is pretty much everything you're looking for in Stock Android. It experiences the glass-like good looks of the Moto G6, and while some might hit their spec sheet, everyone will be impressed by its huge 5000 mAh battery. The smartphone has a 6-inch HD + screen with an aspect ratio of 18: 9, is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 chipset, supported by 3 GB RAM and 32 GB storage (expandable), and comes with a 5.0- megapixel selfie camera. It is big and heavy and requires all hands on deck during use, and although it does not set the world on fire with exceptional performance, it will smoothly go through your daily tasks. And that battery (it can use up to three days) can make you forget where you stored your trusted charger.
