More than 1200 people vaccinated
dpa / To combat the current Ebola outbreak in the east of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, more than 1,200 people have already been vaccinated against the viral disease.
Above all, the experimental vaccine rVSV-ZEBOV receives people who were in contact with patients and caregivers.
The number of suspected cases of Ebola almost doubled to 96 in a week, according to the Ministry of Health in Kinshasa.
So far, at least 55 people have died. In 28 of the victims, the haemorrhagic fever was therefore detected in the laboratory. The Ebola outbreak in the province of North Kivu is a special challenge for volunteers: access is made more difficult because the area around the city of Beni is a conflict area. Therefore, the danger of spreading the deadly infectious disease is high, the World Health Organization (WHO) warned last week. In the region, different militias fight for control over land and mineral resources. The WHO requires free access for all helpers. /
