These increase the risk of diabetes and atherosclerosis (vascular calcification), the main cause of a heart attack.

What should I pay attention to if I want to reduce my sugar and fat intake?
AK: Many foods contain fats and sugars that are harmful to the heart. the first glance is not recognizable: meat, sausage, cheese and dairy products, pastries, confectionery, fast food and end products. Especially end products are often added a lot of sugar, so it is always worth looking at the ingredients list! Sugar also hides behind terms that end with "-ose": fructose, glucose, dextrose, lactose, sucrose, raffinose, etc.

How does the consumption of fats affect the risk of heart attacks?
