Welser Messe shows agriculture 4.0
WELS. 540 exhibitors from ten countries present the future of agriculture.
Soon the analogue barn is out of date, digitization is coming.
There is no way to use the term "smart farming". to use at the AgroTier 2018 in Wels. From Thursday 6 September to Sunday 9 September, the fair shows different ways in which the farmer can benefit from digitization.
It is a high quality of the data collection to increase the efficiency of the farm, says Agricultural Council member Max Hiegelsberger (VP).
A novelty is the Tierzentrum in hall 20. Here, for example, the future of animal husbandry will be presented with the help of a virtual barn. With special glasses, visitors can switch from the real to the virtual world. The walk around the stable of a Generation 4.0 farm shows the latest technology, such as milking robots and real-time measurements of the activity. It also presents ways in which modern technology and automation can make a positive contribution to agricultural change. The focus is on the welfare of the farmer and the animal, but also on business aspects. While cows or pigs must be carefully fattened by modern technology, the farmer's attention is focused on time efficiency.
For the first time since 2012, this year's Agricultural Fair will be linked to the traditional Welser Volksfest from this Thursday. OÖN card owners enjoy the benefits of the Volksfest: with the vouchers that are included in the last Saturday edition, there is a discount on attractions and the purchase of sweets. During Family Afternoon (Friday 31 August), children's news will be distributed free of charge. Everyone who participates in the OÖN competition receives a Mostdipf key ring or an OÖN cap. The second folkfest weekend starts on Thursday with the "Night of the Tracht", presented by the OÖNachrichten.
