Football: Liverpool at Wembley Reparts for Tottenham | Tiroler Tageszeitung online

LONDON (APA / Reuters) – The fifth round-hit in the English Premier League takes place on Saturday (1.30pm) at Wembley Stadium when Tottenham Liverpool hosts. The "Reds" come to London with bad memories. The so far last guest appearance at the "Spurs" eleven months ago was lost with 1: 4. But the clear defeat turned out to be a wake-up call.

The gap with Manchester City was not able to close Liverpool in the season last season. But at least since the Champions League final, the team of coach Jürgen Klopp wants more. The start of the season was excellent, with four wins from four games, nine goals and only one goal from the top of the table. The club has long been considered one of the first challengers of Master City, with dangerous storm trio Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane.

The same applies to Tottenham. The North Londoners won their first three games, but lost in the last game before the international break a 1: 2 loss against the surprise team Watford. Coach Mauricio Pochettino expects a close match on Saturday: "I think Liverpool is one of the best teams in England and Europe, it will be a difficult match."

The Argentinian will rely on a comparable team as in last year's 4-1 victory, because the club did not play in the transfer market during the summer. However, two wounded regulars are missing from playmaker Dele Alli and keeper Hugo Lloris.

Apart from the recent duel in London, the plate speaks for Liverpool. In the past eleven battles there was no defeat alongside the 1: 4. Although it is still early in the season, it is already in the duel of the two top teams to position themselves as a serious title candidate alongside the Pep Guardiola team. Master receives Fulham on Saturday. Chelsea – also toprun under Maurizo Sarri – welcomes Cardiff.

Although the millions of investments in Liverpool have been positive so far, West Ham United can not (yet) claim this. The London club spent around 112 million euros on new players, but the team of ÖFB team player Marko Arnautovic is the fourth after four games with zero points. Coach Manuel Pellegrini and his team are already under pressure in the away match against Everton on Sunday.

Watford wants to continue his impeccable start of the season on Saturday and calls home runner-up Manchester United at home. The "Red Devils" have to do without attacker Marcus Rashford because of a red-lock. The team of Jose Mourinho is in tenth place after a modest start of the season with only two victories. At Watford, ÖFB, Sebastian Prödl was the last to defend Javi Gracia as only a substitute. He wants to use the momentum again – probably without prödl – "We know that our limits will be revealed to us during the season, but we are currently in a good shape and we enjoy it."
