Setback for Dazn: Sky shows Premier League

The battle for the exclusive broadcasting rights in football between the Sky subscription service and the streaming provider Dazn enters a new round.

Now Sky has secured the broadcasting rights for the English Premier League from 2019 to 2022. Dazn had these lucrative rights for the past three seasons. A big disappointment for the streaming provider, whose philosophy is to show premium rights like the Champions League exclusively to its subscribers with 9.99 euros per month.

At Sky we are happy with the deal: "We see ourselves as the home of the sport and it was a natural reaction to raise the Premier League rights for our customers in Austria, Germany and Switzerland," says Michael Hübner, spokesperson for Sky Austria. At the current subscription price of 19.99 euros (from the third year 39.99 euros) nothing would change until further notice. You do not want to say anything about Sky at the amount of the "transfer fee".
