Expression – The Daily – Kalashnikov launches the electric car

The Russian arms manufacturer, famous for its machine gun with the same name, lifted the veil of the CV-1, a 100% Soviet-style electric car. After resuming the project in 2013, Kalashnikov tries to diversify his military activities and is very exposed to Western sanction regimes. The manufacturer of the legendary AK-47 rifle therefore attacks the electric car market with the ambitious goal of competing with the American manufacturer Tesla with a vintage, Soviet inspired model presented on August 23rd. Light blue and very retro design, the prototype of his new electric car, called "CV-1" and thus inspired by a Soviet car from the 1970s called "Ij-Kombi", was presented at a military forum in the Moscow region.
