theThe local police of Zaventem will be the first in the kingdom to use fully electric Tesla – two S-models – which will be used as intervention vehicles, the municipal authorities announced Friday.

The local police of Zaventem invested in a fleet of greener vehicles for the last ten years as part of its environmental protection policy, explained Mayor Ingrid Holemans (Open VLD).

Roll more green

She recalled that her police zone in 2007 had bought a first hybrid car, a Toyota Prius, which had replaced a diesel engine. Over the years, the police have bought other hybrid cars or run on natural gas. In 2017 she bought nine e-bikes to replace mopeds.

According to the police, the Tesla meets all requirements for intervention vehicles, in terms of range, power and speed. They also have a safe that is big enough.

Policemen from Zaventem will receive training to make the best use of it.
