Eight days later, on August 1, 2500 kilometers further to the east, in the province of North Kivu, the Ministry of Health had to report the appearance of new cases of the virus. Reliefs, including WHO health professionals, a doctor without borders, and the Congolese Ministry of Health, were able to intervene quickly and by 8 August the first vaccines were distributed. Nevertheless, the province of North Kivu, bordering Rwanda and Uganda, is characterized by great insecurity.
