Tenth Ebola outbreak in the DRC




theOn 24 July, the government of the Democratic Republic of Congo and the World Health Organization announced the end of the Ebola epidemic, which had been declared three months earlier in the Equateur province, to the west of the country, causing 33 deaths. Eight days later, on August 1, 2500 kilometers further to the east, in the province of North Kivu, the Ministry of Health had to report the appearance of new cases of the virus. Reliefs, including WHO health professionals, a doctor without borders, and the Congolese Ministry of Health, were able to intervene quickly and by 8 August the first vaccines were distributed. Nevertheless, the province of North Kivu, bordering Rwanda and Uganda, is characterized by great insecurity.
