Friday evening around 20:37 hours a fire broke out in an apartment complex on the Avenue des Allies in Malmedy, opposite the Belfius bank. from Lukoil station
The fire started in the cellars of the building. The smoke spread quickly through the different floors. The firefighters from Malmedy, Stavelot and Waimes intervened on the spot. The fire was checked around 10.30 pm
Several people who inhaled toxic fumes were taken in by the emergency services. Seven people have been poisoned, but their days are not in danger.
When the firefighters arrived in large numbers at the site of the incident, the flames caused much material damage. All residents of the building had to be moved.
In view of the situation, the public prosecutor's office of Liège was informed of the facts. The magistrate responsible for the file required the presence of a fire expert on site.
The report of the expert was made and two sources of fire were detected, which could prove the cause of the incident.
We are told, however, that no suspects have been identified at this stage after hearing the residents. The research is therefore still under way
