There are no paid Lootboxes in Belgium on NBA 2K19 | Dexerto.fr

The 2K publisher has announced that the paid My Team packages will not be available in NBA 2K19 in Belgium to respect the new legislation of the country.

It's been many months since the controversy looms up over lootboxes, these & # 39; outside boxes & # 39; which are for sale in some video games and whose content is arbitrarily determined.

Seen by critics as games of chance, lootboxes have been banned in some European countries such as the Netherlands and more recently in Belgium. There, the fine that is imposed to provide players with paid loot boxes 800 000 € is good enough to think twice about the publishers.

The latter therefore began to take certain measures to prevent him from coming into confrontation with the Belgian courts. This is for example the case of EA Sports, which announced that the titles of the year 2019 (FIFA 19, Madden 19 etc.) will reflect the probabilities of what is possible in these packages.

But 2K Sports goes even further and announced in a press release that paid lootboxes will simply be absent in NBA 2K19 in Belgium. If you are a Belgian, you can only get more packs by using My Team points and using more with virtual currencies that you have bought with real money.

"To be more specific, we will cancel purchases of packs with purchased points with real money or virtual currency, and it is always possible for players to acquire packs by spending My TEAM points."

2K took the opportunity to state that it did not agree with the regulations imposed by the Belgian Gaming Commission. For them, the packages that are present in the NBA 2K license already comply with the Belgian legislation and they should not be obliged to remove them. They also invite the players themselves to exert some pressure on their elected officials.

"We will continue the discussions with the Belgian Gaming Commission to express our view that the purchases of NBA 2K and My TEAM packages already comply with local legislation. Please contact your local government representative to give your opinion and we will to keep you informed of the following events. "
