A popular sports bar in St. John’s has closed its doors, at least temporarily, after possible exposure to COVID-19.

The management of The Bigs restaurant on Freshwater Road said they learned late on Saturday that a person who tested positive after returning from Nova Scotia was a customer at the site last Monday, Nov. 16.

On Friday, it was confirmed that a man in his 20s in the Eastern Health region had tested positive after returning from Nova Scotia.

In any case, the restaurant will close until the test results come back for an employee who was in close contact with the man. If the test returns positive, they remain closed and all personnel must be isolated for 14 days.

They say COVID testing is then required from all staff before returning to work.

Freshwater Road restaurant staff does not work at The Bigs in Mount Pearl.
