A four-alarm fire struck the traffic and the temporarily stalled metro service on the Orange Line at the beginning of Tuesday when more than 100 firefighters were deployed to fight a fire in a seemingly empty building on St-Denis St. near Cherrier St.

The fire broke out at 4.00 am and forced the evacuation of a neighboring apartment complex, but no injuries were reported. Métro trains were stopped as a precaution in the nearby Sherbrooke station, although the service resumed at 6.30 pm.

St-Denis St. is closed in both directions between Sherbrooke St. and Pine Ave. and the police urges motorists to avoid the area.
