KAMLOOPS – A deadlock on Royal Avenue in Kamloops has ended after the police arrested a man who allegedly barricaded inside a house.
Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says in a press release that agents received information on August 22 that someone was locked up in a house in the 400-block of Royal Avenue. The police quickly kept the area and neighbors were evacuated as a precaution.
Shelkie says that officers could call different residents of the house, including the person who was allegedly being held against their will, but one man remained in the house.
The Emergency Response Team of the Southeast District attended the residency and shortly after 11 pm. the man inside was taken into custody. According to the police, he is a 25-year-old Kamloops man who was previously known to the police.
The house is currently being protected in anticipation of further research, says Shelkie. All information will be forwarded to the Crown Counselor who will determine whether the costs are appropriate.
