Update: Highway 97 closed while crews fight wildfire at the Okanagan waterfalls

Highway 97 at the Okanagan waterfalls is closed while the crew is working to get the wildfire under control.

Helicopters are constantly dumping the fire.

Nicole Bonnett, information officer for BC Wildfire, said that a team of origin and cause is research.

The fire is estimated at about one hectare.



BC Wildfire helps the firefighting teams of Okanagan Falls with a blaze on the west side of an area known as Aquarius Hill.

Local fire fighters have closed Green Lake Road off Highway 97.

Smoke and flames are visible at some distance in the area.

The fire, which started around 4.30 pm, is probably caused by people and is being investigated.
