It has been a good year for Huawei, with the Huawei P20 and the Huawei P20 Pro both well received after arrival in March, but the Chinese company is not ready yet – and we are now eagerly counting down until we see the Huawei Mate 20 appear.
If you are not yet familiar with the Pro series, these phones will take the regular Huawei flagships and add more screen space and additional features – see Huawei Mate 10 Pro from last year. Here you will find an overview of everything we expect from the smartphone so far.
Huawei Mate 20: release date and price
The Huawei Mate 10 and the Huawei Mate 10 Pro were unveiled to the world in October 2017 – and will Huawei decide in October 2018 to launch their successors? It seems unlikely that it will leave it later.
However, it can be earlier. There have been whispers that Huawei is preparing to reveal Mate 20 in the IFA 2018 technical show, which starts at the end of August. If Huawei wants to grab the headlines that are a way to do it – and so the new phones would appear at the end of August, in September, or not long in October.
And we're talking about telephones, plural. Based on the leaks we have seen so far, Huawei will roll out a Huawei Mate 20 Lite, a standard Huawei Mate 20 and a Huawei Mate 20 Pro with all the bells and whistles. The prices are adjusted accordingly.
As far as those prices are concerned, that remains to be seen. The Huawei Mate 10 Pro came with a price tag of £ 699 or $ 799 and we would expect the Mate 20 Pro to be in the same line, while the other two models cost slightly less. In view of the trend in the entire market, however, the prices for 2018 can get a serious dent from 2017 onwards.
Huawei Mate 20: design
The early rumor of the Huawei Mate 20 screen dominates the rumor that the phone will function a gigantic 6.9-inch screen. Even if handsets grow bigger, year after year, that's huge, and almost in tablet area.
Keep in mind the big Samsung Galaxy Note 9 has a screen size of 6.4 inches and you get an idea of the kind of dimensions we are talking about. It is not clear at what resolution the screen will turn, but an upgrade of the 1080 x 2160 pixel resolution of the Huawei Mate 10 Pro seems to be on the map.
Apart from the screen, you can expect another sleek, stylish handset from Huawei, with a few design designs – possibly around the back of the camera, if we can believe it the leaks and makes internet. Apparently the notch on the front will be smaller and more discreet than we are used to.
We have not heard much about the colors that Huawei will make available with the Mate 20 Lite, the Mate 20 and the Mate 20 Pro, but knowing that Huawei would say that there will probably be a good set of choices to choose from.
Huawei Mate 20: specs
Something we are officially talking about is the CPU in the Mate 20 phones – Huawei has confirmed that the company's own brand new Kirin 980 processor will power these new flagships, improving the performance and energy efficiency of the Kirin 970, which sits inside the Huawei P20 phones.
Apart from that, we have not heard too much about the components that Huawei plans to install here. The Mate 10 Pro came from 2017 with 4 GB or 6 GB RAM, the P20 Pro from earlier this year came with 6 GB of RAM, so we would expect the Huawei Mate 20 to offer between 6 GB and 8 GB of RAM – though the specifications are going to vary between the three models (and RAM can be one of the differentiators).
Also expect a selection of internal storage options, 64 GB and more – this could be one of the other ways Huawei decides to differentiate between the three models that are said to appear under the Mate 20 umbrella.
A spec that might raise a few eyebrows is the battery: based on a teaser package that was sent by Huawei itself, the battery of the phone can be one of the most important features of the new handset (s). The biggest battery Huawei has ever put into a phone is 4000 mAh, and if the new models then they should have a pretty impressive battery life.
Huawei Mate 20: functions
Huawei loves camera & # 39; s and hit a camera with three lenses on the back of the Huawei P20 Pro – something we have not seen yet from one of its main competitors. At least one of the Mate 20 devices is probably also equipped with a lens with three lenses for its rear-facing camera, and leaked a rather unusual layout for it.
As far as the actual specifications of the camera are concerned, Huawei probably wants to push the boat out as much as possible. We saw a 40 MP + 20 MP + 8 MP model on the P20 Pro, so something in the same sentence is likely.
What else can we expect? Huawei has not yet given any of its phones the world class IP68 rating for water and dust – IP67 is the current maximum – so that might be something to look out for on the Huawei Mate 20. Android 9 Pie is probably the best board OS, with the own skin of Huawei placed on top.
There is also the matter of a fingerprint scanner on the screen on the front of the device, making the Huawei Mate 20 the first worldwide recognized flagship phone with such a feature – Huawei likes to talk about how it will innovate for other companies, so you can expect it to work hard this to make a reality.
