New Toyota Corolla arrives

A new Toyota Corolla has arrived – the twelfth generation and I vividly remember that in 1967 I controlled one of the first generation models, the Corolla then so small that today it would be called a micro car. About 45 million have since found homes, the most popular car in Australia and one with a strong reputation for maintenance friendliness and reliability. The new model breaks a new ground, finally with some cutting-edge style, but Toyota has become somewhat bullish with prices despite the fact that this new model offers a lot of equipment with one exception, especially for a car that appeals to younger buyers – media -connectivity in the form of Apple Car Play and Android Auto is missing. Also interesting is the deletion of the entry-level model with ascent speed – the range that now starts with the 2.0-liter Ascent Sport hatch of $ 22,870, a higher starting point for the Hyundai i30, Kia Cerato and Mazda 3 which is somewhat of a surprise. I drove the new model & # 39; & # 39; but sits inside, feels more elegant, offers more inside width and a nice 7-inch color touch cover. Visually it is a step up on the previous model with beautiful materials in it. Three new Corolla grades, Ascent Sport, SX and high-quality ZR, all three also available as 1.8-liter petrol / electric hybrid for the first time, with $ 1,500 for each class. Above all, the styling of this new Corolla hatch is striking – something we rarely say about a Toyota and perhaps their C-HR SUV, a welcome change from Toyota's emphasis on visually appealing models.
