This is confirmed by data from the US centers for disease control and prevention.
It is a fundamental part of our diet and, at the same time, the one who makes us sick most. Chicken, as confirmed by the American Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, is responsible for a large number of infections.
According to a recent study, more than 12% of the outbreaks and intestinal infections transferred for the consumption of food in the United States are from the bird. The agency defines "outbreak of disease transmitted by food" to an incident in which two or more people get the same type of illness after eating an ordinary food.
Although fish and dairy products cause more outbreaks, diseases contracted after eating chicken make the general public much sicker, says the same research.
In order to carry out his research, the center discovered 5,760 outbreaks between 2009 and 2015. These outbreaks caused 100,939 people ill. Of these, 5,699 were admitted to hospital and 145 died. A total of 12% (3.114) of diseases caused by outbreaks related to chicken in that period were reported by La Vanguardia.
Salmonella in eggs caused 2,422 diseases, while salmonella in chicken caused 1,941. The fish was linked to 222 cases of outbreaks during the study period, but only 1,353 people became ill. Chicken was linked to 123 cases of outbreaks.
Pork and vegetables with seeds occupy the second and third most common cause of outbreak-related diseases in the study, respectively. The pig was linked to 89 outbreaks and 2,670 people. Seed plants were linked to 44 outbreaks and made 2,572 people ill.
