New regulations determine the nine varieties that are considered potentially dangerous

To clarify all doubts about the care of pets, the Sub-Secretariat of Regional Development (Subdere) has been published the first regulation of the law of responsible appointment.

Within the 70 articles that have been drawn up, the nine races are identified that are considered potentially dangerous because of their generic characteristics, according to the slogan The third.

Four of these races are more common in our country: Rottweiler, Doberman, Pitbull, Dogo Argentino. The other five correspond to Bullmastiff, Fila Brasileiro, Presa Canario, Presa Mallorquín and Tosa Inu, which are less known.

Requirements for owners

The standard sets a series of requirements for people who want a pet with these characteristics:

  • They must be older than 18 years.
  • To move in the public space, animals must wear muzzles, harnesses and belts that fit their size.
  • They must ensure that there are safe fences that prevent them from escaping into their homes.
  • Dogs must follow a "obedience training" course, which must be paid by the owner

Pet registration

The regulation provides for a period of 180 days for the owners of dogs and cats to register their animals in the national animal register.

The procedure can be carried out personally in the relevant municipality or on the site The deadline expires on February 22, 2019 and those who do not meet the requirements can incur penalties from 1 to 30 UTM.
