The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has announced that, thanks to the stimulus that the government has proposed to control the oversupply of rice, $ 13.800 million has so far been implemented with 224,000 tons.

"The measure of the storage incentive was effective, in a single implementation month the price of rice recovered and the value annualized to the month of August rose by more than 5%, which means that the market has responded", assured the Minister of Agriculture, Andrés Valencia.

The government initially set aside $ 30,000 million for this incentive, leaving $ 16,200 million available for the remainder of the second semester of the year for storing the rice crop. According to the ministry, Meta, Casanare and Tolima are the departments with the greatest use of the instrument that the government has provided.

Farmers who are interested in accepting the mechanism must submit the sales invoices and collection accounts to the Mercantile Exchange of Colombia.
