According to the newspaper El Universal, a number of residents of the Corregimiento del Crucito, the mother of the children, went for a walk around the town square while their children slept. The authorities could do little because of the difficult access to the fire zone, because it is located in the foothills of the Nudo del Paramillo.

At the moment we are working on removing the bodies of the children from the house to be moved to the headquarters of legal medicine in Tierralta. The army in turn provides cooperation through boats, because the only way to get in is via the Sinú River.
