Due to the uncertain ski season, many people have postponed the purchase of ski equipment this year. On Friday, however, Minister of Health Jan Blatný (for YES) gave the ski areas the green light, the slopes will open on December 18. Ski equipment sellers hardly stopped on Saturday.
“Because we are open for fourteen days and the number of customers on site is limited, the declines are in the millions. We have solved it with a reservation system at the entrance. That means that whoever wants to come here must book them online on our website , ‘Jaromír Fic, the director of the Lyžebraní store, described the situation.
Due to concerns about what this year’s ski season will look like, many people have decided to invest in equipment for ski mountaineering and cross-country skiing. “The situation has also affected the sales structure to such an extent that there has been much more interest in cross-country and downhill skiing”, added Fic.
“I don’t know what it will look like this season, so I would like to try alpine skiing,” said one respondent.
Fearing that the stored equipment could be sold, they are already selling goods at a discount somewhere. “The skis are ordered a year in advance, so we have a lot of goods and the discounts actually started during Black Friday,” added Happy Sport’s operational director, Petr Křivánek.
At the same time, new ski models usually get cheaper after the New Year.
