The Foreign Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives held Monday a meeting under the chairmanship of the committee chairman, Karim Darwish, to discuss international multilateral affairs and international security in the presence of Ambassador Ihab Fawzi, Assistant Foreign Minister for Multilateral Affairs Affairs.

The committee meeting with Ambassador Ihab Fawzi focused on coordinating efforts with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to achieve Egyptian interests, particularly in relation to the development strategy thanks to the weight of the Egyptian organization in the international and regional organizations, which was reinforced after the revolution of 30 June and the return of Egypt as an important regional power to fulfill its role not only for its interests National interests, but also their national interests and global responsibilities for stability and security in the region and the world.

Darwish added that there are parliamentary efforts involving the commission in the dialogue with foreign delegations and Egypt's international partners dealing with historical and humanitarian responsibility for the cultivation of mines, especially in Western Sahara, in order to mine the mining area. purify and develop in this important area of ​​Egyptian development projects.

On the other hand, parliamentarian Karim Darwish stressed that Egypt did not treat the refugee problem like other countries, but tackled it according to its ancient civilizations and ethical and humanitarian dimensions.

Ambassador Ihab Fawzi, for his part, examined the efforts of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in international organizations, particularly in the United Nations, NATO, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, the Organization for Islamic Cooperation, the African Union and others. .

Egypt has held a non-permanent seat in the UN Security Council for two years, the Presidency of the Group of 77 (G77), the largest group in the United Nations on economic and development issues, and the Egyptian Presidency of the African Union in January. .

The assistant foreign minister said that these international responsibilities have been entrusted to countries of international importance participating in achieving the goals of the United Nations and is Egypt's seventh place in the world in terms of participation in peacekeeping.

Fawzi emphasized the Egyptian constants and efforts on a number of points, including the evacuation of the Middle East towards weapons of mass destruction.

He highlighted the successful efforts of Egypt to address the problem of illegal immigration, as confirmed by international reports: a boat with illegal immigrants has not been released from the Egyptian shores since 2016.
Ambassador Ehab Fawzi also answered a number of questions from MEP Tariq al-Khouli about the effectiveness of the United Nations and the Security Council, the efforts to extend the permanent and non-permanent membership of the Security Council and the extent to which the Ministry of Foreign Affairs the recommendations of the World Youth Forum followed.
Ambassador Ihab Fawzi stressed that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has already sent all recommendations of the World Youth Forum to all relevant organizations and is closely monitoring their implementation on the ground.
