The Big Bang Theory: After squashing last season, the top sitcom is wise to finish

Producers thanked the fans for their incredible support and promised an "epic creative conclusion".

OPINION: The decision to end The big bang theory does not count in dollars, but it is perfectly creative.

CBS was interested in a deal to expand the hit comedy, with the stars only for the coming season under contract. However, the network, the studio and Chuck Lorre announced Wednesday that the series will end in May.

Entertainment Weekly reported that breakout star Jim Parsons put the deal on hold because he was ready to leave.

However, an Instagram message from Parsons read as less than happy with the news. "I will miss you all and more than I can say, and more than I can know at the moment."

Writing on her website, Grok Nation, actress Mayim Bialik who plays popAmy Farrah Fowler, expressed her distress when the show ended.

"Am I happy? Of course not, this is my job since Melissa Rauch and I joined the cast as regular customers in season 4. I love my job, I love my castmates and I feel so much appreciation for our incredible crew, our brave writers, our entire staff and our great fans, so many people are part of our Big Bang family.

"This is difficult, I like coming to work and pretending to be Amy." She is a riot, she is me and I am her and soon she will not be mine to create. "

Whatever the reason – and however sad it may be – it is the right move.

After more than 250 episodes, pop is still the best rated comedy of TV – Roseanne took that honor for a short time, but look where it is now – and it will probably stay that way.

There was enough money to be made for all those involved and the departure will leave CBS, which has been successfully launched pop prequel spin-off Young SheldonWith a huge plan. (Do not let tears fall.Although fans will soon be less Penny, no one connected to this cash machine will leave without money.)

Creative, however pop shows the age. Although it defies the downturn that defies long-running comedies, it began to bump last season.

Almost the whole run, Big bang, Made by sitcom master Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady, has been a well-oiled laugh factory. The first story of two uneasy scientific geniuses and their neighbor, a Cheesecake Factory waitress with much sharper social skills, began with promise and left from there, grew into a larger, talented ensemble that weaved in character depth and emotion, without becoming a maudlin, while they still deliver the jokes.

The first cast – neighbor Penny (Kaley Cuoco) in itself was dealing with the housemates Sheldon (Jim Parsons) and Leonard (Johnny Galecki) and their scientific pals Howard (Simon Helberg) and Raj (Kunal Nayyar) – was man-centric, but the show brought more balance and introduced two brilliant women as female scientists: microbiologist Bernadette (Melissa Rauch) and neuroscientist Amy (Mayim Bialik).

They were not only grafted for appearance. The writers and actors brought depth to Bernadette and Amy, integrated them smartly into the cast and created new opportunities because the eternally unripe boys took baby steps to grow up. Leonard eventually married Penny; Bernadette and Howard got a lance and became parents; and Amy and husband-child Sheldon made their wedding vows in the final of last season.

Over the years, when Steven Molaro got a more prominent role as executive producer, the show added a layer of emotion that gave the humor more depth. Fans strongly connected with the characters, a great sign, with laughs from their idiosyncratic personalities as well as the jokes.

I remember moving to an episode in Season 6, where the group of friends tried to soften the wave of Howard's feelings of abandonment by his father. There was a sweetness to their support, interrupted by a hilarious and ridiculous effort from emotionally close Sheldon.

Big bang kept that balance over the years, because its lifetime exceeded most other sitcoms, especially those for a studio audience. By the time the store closes in May, the series has collected a record of 279 episodes for the format of the studio audience, more than classics Frasier (11 seasons, 263 episodes), friends (10 seasons, 236 episodes) and Seinfeld (nine seasons, 173 episodes).

Previous hits have ended for various reasons; stars and producers want to pursue other opportunities or the financial factors are no longer logical.

But there is an underlying, inevitable reason why all these shows end. In the course of time, they all lose some creativity, often simply as a result of repetition. What was once fresh seems to be stale.

pop the quality for many episodes after the expected expiry date of a sitcom, but last year it hit a wall. The season-long run-up to the & # 39; Shamy & # 39; wedding, a truly joyful union of two large characters, began more as a meandering walk than a wedding march. It just felt like pop turned his wheels. Repetition and uniformity can make Sheldon please obsessive, but they do not do much for comedy.

With one and especially two seasons after the upcoming, pop ran the risk of fleeing comic entropy (a term that Sheldon and Leonard would understand), which degrades and loses energy and moves towards flatness.

But with only one more season to go, I am confident that the talented producers, writers and actors can make a funny sprint, with pratfalls, to the finish. Big bang writers are known for not planning too far ahead, so there is time to plan a satisfying conclusion, and there is no longer any danger for the dreaded penultimate season, a time of weakening for many otherwise stellar series as everyone expects the big final.

American studio Warner Bros confirmed that the 12th season of The Big Bang Theory will be his last.

Big bang has received no awards in the course of the years; Jim Parsons has been an Emmy magnet and has won four trophies as a protagonist in a comedy, but the series has never won for the best comedy. It was worthy of that honor.

But prices do not determine the quality of a show and Big bang stands with the best in his genre.

Now, without being aggravated with two extra seasons (and, yes, the corresponding piles of money), it has a chance to go out with … a sharp, funny bloom. (Did you think I would say scared Bazinga!)
