Ethiopia: 200 people have been arrested because of deadly attacks

At least 200 people were arrested by the police in connection with the violence during the weekend with 23 deaths.

Additional security officers have been deployed in the area that has been hit by violence and operations are under way to recover plundered property, police added.

At least 23 people were killed in the unrest in and around Burayu, a city northwest of Addis Ababa.

Some residents say the violence was released by members of the Oromo ethnic group, the largest in Ethiopia, who demanded that people from minority groups "leave the country".

Protesters took up the streets of Addis Ababa on Monday to put an end to the violence and force the closure of many companies.
