Ethiopian police seizes 1000 smuggled pistols, 37,000 bullets

  Smuggling weapons-Ethiopia 18 August 2018 – The Ethiopian federal police say they grabbed more than 1000 pistols and 37,000 bullets when they were smuggled from neighboring Sudan to Addis Ababa. [19659003] Some of the illegal weapons were captured at the northern gate of the capital, popularly known as Tsion Hotel in the district of Gulelle, while the other part was held in the substad Kolefe Keranio of the metropolis, the police said on Friday

The armament was traded in a fuel truck and Isuzu, and the origin was, according to the federal police officer, Sudan.

According to the federal police, the fuel truck had a ride directly from Sudan to Addis Ababa while Isuzu had stayed in the city of Gondar than to Bahir Dar where it uploaded fish shipments to cover the armament.

The police said that three suspects have been arrested so far in connection with the offense.

It should be remembered that last month seve ral weapons and bullets were caught when they were smuggled from neighboring Sudan and Djibouti to the central part of Ethiopia. So far, Ethiopian security does not reveal who bought these weapons and for which groups.

The police say that the weapons were made in Turkey and confiscated after tips from the public.
