Five people died as a result of a clash with the police today, September 17, 2018, in the middle of a massive demonstration in Addis Ababa, where residents of the city took to the streets to protest against what they thought was an ethnically charged attack on civilians during the weekend.

"One of these organized gangs even grabbed a policeman's gun," Zeinu told journalists from the national broadcaster, adding that other officers in the area were forced to take measures that resulted in the killing of five demonstrators, he added. .

In addition, some elements that have succeeded in infiltrating in the demonstration have been stopped with bombs. According to reports, some demonstrators have played the largest role in arresting the guilty and reporting to the police, resulting in the subsequent arrest of the alleged criminals.

With regard to the incident in Burayu and surroundings, Zeinu said it was a deliberate move to hurt the current changes in the country.

Some in Addis Ababa have also been paid to destabilize the city and they have offended selected ethnic groups, Zeinu added.

The Commissioner also said that the police are recovering recovered property, some of which are stored in the surrounding forests.
