The SPLM-N is now divided into two factions: one led by Abdel Aziz al-Hilu and the other headed by Malik Agar. The gap arose last year over self-determination and other organizational issues.

Several sources close to the file say that the mediation of the African Union recently held several meetings with the al-Hilu faction but not with them on the agenda for the talks.

The AU mediates comprehensive peace talks to end the war and implement democratic reforms. The two-track process consists of the Sudanese government and opposition forces, including the armed groups in Darfur and the two areas.

During the recent round of talks from 1 to 3 February, the Sudanese government and SPLM-N al-Hilu failed to put an end to the hostility agreement.

The Al Hilu group demands humanitarian aid directly from abroad to the rebel-managed areas, but Khartoum rejects such a request and says that all relief operations must be carried out from the Sudanese territory.

Before the split of the SPLM-N, the rebel group called for a corridor from Asosa on the Ethiopian border to provide 20 percent of humanitarian aid directly to the SPLM-N-controlled areas in the state of Blue Nile. to deliver.

In February talks, the mediation limited the discussions about the cessation of hostilities against the government and the SPLM-N al-Hilu said Agar faction has no military influence in the state of Blue Nile.
