The Saint-Roch district in Nice was the site of a violent block of flats on the night of Tuesday 21 on Wednesday 22 August,
reports Nice-Matin. On 8 rue Acciardi-de-Saint-Léger, not far from the Nice-Saint-Roch SNCF train station, the 4th floor of the building burned at midnight. A resident was stuck
the fire and finally succumbed to the flames.
Firefighters work hampered by neighborhood youths
"We started screaming in the street, first thinking of a dispute between young people," said residents of the 3rd floor. The screams came from the apartment above them, where the flames pushed their neighbor to retreat to her balcony. "She cried," There is fire! Call the fire department! "It was impressive, she wanted to jump, but could not," says another resident.

The 50 firefighters sent to the scene could not do anything to save the victim, a corpulent woman of about sixty years old. The 25 residents spread over the seven floors of the building were evacuated and cared for by the Red Cross and the municipal services.
[[[[#Respect]They are police, they are firefighters and every day they intervene for your safety. That night, during a large fire service, services were invaded and obstructed by a collection of hostile individuals@ sdis_06 @PoliceNationale for you pic.twitter.com/nEdGTIImIK

But the work of the relief will not go without problems: "Some of them hindered the work of the firefighters at the beginning of the intervention: theft of equipment, abuse …" regretted the subprefect Gwenaëlle Chapuis for a reporter for Nice-Matin. the
National police even had to intervene to make firefighters work well. Three young people from the neighborhood were arrested and placed in police custody.
