New achievements for French customs: on 5 July they received five tons of counterfeit products. These are a total of 61,534 articles from about 30 different brands that have been seized, reports RTL.
They were hidden in the trunk of a utility vehicle from Great Britain and went to Seine-et-Marne. It was ultimately on the A15 motorway in Gennevilliers (Hauts-de-Seine) that a joint customs and police operation made it possible to intercept the vehicle.
"We found 240 football shirts, we also found 2,774 pairs of glasses, belts, shoes, leather goods, wallets, luxury watches and also 40,000 labels of the Lacoste (…) C is a small Ali Baba's cave with all the slide shows of the fake", said Jean Mencacci, deputy director of Customs at Paris West, at RTL.
Estimated amount of intercepted products: several million euros. It is the largest confiscation of customs in France, this year, the second on French territory in eight months. Last June 103,000 forged toothbrushes were discovered in Reunion.
